NANS Urges FG To Think Beyond School Closure, Sends Message To Students Amidst Second Wave Of COVID-19
The National Association of Nigerian students(NANS) South West Zone D, has commended the gallant efforts of the Nigerian Government to keep their citizens alive and healthy by finding available means to get vaccines from neighboring country to curtain the spread of Covid-19 in Nigeria.
Eleven months ago, the office of the NANS AGS Zone D, Comrade Ibukun Titilayo Samuel aka Highbeekay started the campaign against Covid-19 in Nigerian institutions on how Nigerian students can prevent the spread of the virus.
The Essence of the awareness was to to sensitize the students on the deadly virus works and to be conscious of their environment before lockdown sent us packing from campus.
It was dishertened that at a time when we are preparing to resume back to school after several months of strike and lockdown, the country is witnessing the emergence of second wave of Covid-19 and at this juncture, the federal government as a matter of urgency should suspend the idea of changing the school resumption date and must understand that the school is a safer place full with intellectual students, where majority can be well coordinated than Market places, night clubs and others.
Comrade Ibukun, stressed the need for federal government to have new approach and better alternative to fight the pandemic rather than embarking on a mission to shut down the education sector.
