A post-no-debit means that all debit transactions, including ATMs and cheques, on the accounts, have been blocked but can receive inflows. The circular, signed by Haruna B. Mustapha, director of banking supervision, on Thursday, also instructed banks to send details of the accounts. Last year, CBN also instructed banks to freeze accounts of 38 companies, including premier Lotto, owned by Adebutu Kessington, a Nigerian businessman popularly known as “Baba Ijebu”. “You are hereby directed to place all accounts of the under-listed customers on Post-No-Debit (PND) restriction,” the circular reads. Kaduna government has announced that schools in the state re-opened on Wednesday, 18th August, 2021, after being initially closed down due to ongoing military operations against bandits in northwestern states. The resumption date is for Junior Secondary School (JSS) III students only, and they were directed to come to school in mufti. Kaduna state’s Commissioner for Education, Shehu Usman Muhammad said in a statement on Wednesday August 18; “Government has approved the resumption for JSS lll students, who were scheduled to write their National Examination Council Basic Education Certificate Examination (NECO BECE) scheduled for 23rd August to 6th September 2021. “Secondary schools are hereby directed to resume operations only for JSS lll students with effect from 18 August 2021 and to inform the students to appear multi."

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody a former Abia Governor, Sen. Theodore Orji and his son, Chinedu over alleged N48billion security votes. The two leaders are also expected to account for the N2billion Ecological Fund and conversion of Sure-P funds. While the ex-Governor was intercepted at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja before boarding a flight, his son reported to the EFCC headquarters. The federal government has provided an update following negotiations with Twitter.     Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said ban on Twitter will be lifted in a matter of days or in a few weeks time.   Mohammed, gave this update after the week’s virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.   Providing updates on the government’s negotiation with the micro-blogging site, the Minister gave more details of the conditions given to the platform, saying most of them have been accepted.   He said the areas still pending such as Twitter setting up an office and having a Twitter staff of management cadre that will serve as the country representative, were being discussed.   Mohammed revealed in the area of a Nigerian office, even though Twitter has agreed to the condition, it is however maintaining the earliest it can establish it is 2022.   The Minister

Deputy commissioner Abba Kyari is accused of taking bribes from Nigerian Instagram celebrity Ray Hushpuppi, who has pleaded guilty to money laundering in the US. Mr Kyari has denied the allegations. The allegations shocked many Nigerians as he was known as a "super cop" who went after criminals. Court documents filed in California said the 37-year-old Hushpuppi's crimes cost victims almost $24m (£17m). Hushpuppi, whose real name is Ramon Abbas, posed as real estate developer in Dubai and posted photos of his lavish lifestyle on Instagram, where he had 2.5m followers.
