CBN Asks Banks to Block Accounts of 18 Companies
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed banks to place a post-no-debit on the bank accounts of 18 companies.

A post-no-debit means that all debit transactions, including ATMs and cheques, on the accounts, have been blocked but can receive inflows.

The circular, signed by Haruna B. Mustapha, director of banking supervision, on Thursday, also instructed banks to send details of the accounts.

Last year, CBN also instructed banks to freeze accounts of 38 companies, including premier Lotto, owned by Adebutu Kessington, a Nigerian businessman popularly known as “Baba Ijebu”.

“You are hereby directed to place all accounts of the under-listed customers on Post-No-Debit (PND) restriction,” the circular reads.

The affected companies include Bakori Mega Services, Ashambrakh General Enterprise, Namuduka Ventures Limited, Crosslinks Capital and Investment Limited, IGP Global Synergy Limited, Davedan Mille Investment Limited and Urban Laundry.

Others are Advanced Multi-Links Services Limited, Spray Resources, Al-Ishaq Global Resources Limited, Himark Intertrades, Charblecom Concept Limited, Wudatage Global Resources.

Also included are Treynor Soft Ventures, Fyrstrym Global Concepts Limited, Samarize Global Nigeria Limited, and Zahraddeen Haruna Shahru.

The apex bank did not state any reason for the action.

EFCC Seals Off Kwankwaso’s Property In Kano
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed off a property of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso on Miller Road in Kano metropolis.

A two-term governor of Kano, Kwankwaso represented Kano Central Senatorial District at the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019 .
When Daily Trust visited the area, one of those around when the operatives of the EFCC came to seal off the building, told our reporter that the EFCC operatives told them that the sealing was a follow up on a petition sent to the commission by some members of the family of Ismaila Gwarzo, a former National Security Adviser.

He said the family members had alleged that one Abdullahi Muazu Gwarzo (Baba Gandu), a former MD of the defunct REMASAB in Kano, sold the property belonging to the family to Kwankwaso and refused to remit the money to the family.

“The issue regarding the sealing is a personal issue among members of Ismaila Gwarzo’s family and Kwankwaso was only involved because he was a buyer of one of the property”, the source said.

The EFCC is yet to react to its latest action on the property but Daily Trust had reported that the anti-graft agency was investigating the former governor over an allegation of diversion of local government funds amounting to N3.08billion.
In a petition, one Barrister Mustapha Danjuma, who wrote on behalf of Engineer Abubakar Maisha’ani and Alhaji Najumai Garba Kobo, had alleged that Kwankwaso received contributions of N70 million from each of the 44 local government councils (totalling N3.08billion) towards his presidential primary in 2015.

Kwankwaso had contested the APC presidential primary in 2015 but lost to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He later defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, had confirmed to Daily Trust that the commission was investigating allegations contained in the petition.
