BREAKING: Lionel Messi agrees to join PSG on two-year deal

Lionel Messi has reached an agreement on a two-year contract with Paris Saint Germain (PSG) over a transfer to the French soccer club, according to Sky Sports, adding he was due to arrive in Paris in the coming hours.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner had two other options after leaving Barcelona last week, but has chosen to move to the French club on a deal worth £25m per year after tax.

Messi was set to extend his 21-year stay at Barcelona by signing a new five-year deal this summer.

However, the club announced on Thursday that “financial and structural obstacles” meant the deal could not be completed, meaning Messi left as a free agent.

Messi, the 34-year-old record goalscorer for both Argentina and Barcelona, is one of the greatest players of all time.

House on The Rock pastor dies from COVID-19

Adeyinka Adebami, a pastor with House on The Rock Church, Lagos, has died from COVID-19. Paul Adefarasin, the senior pastor of the church, broke the tragic news via Twitter on Saturday. He described Adebami’s death as painful, adding that the deceased was a good man. Nigerian govt deceives citizens, raises petrol price above N200

The Nigerian government has increased the pump price of petrol to N212.61 a litre, less than two weeks after assuring the nation there would be no hike. The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) announced late Thursday that the retail price for a litre of petrol for the month will be between N209.61 and N212.61. The ex-depot price, which is the amount sold by fuel depot owners to marketers, will be N206.42, while the landing cost stands at N189.61 per litre, the agency said. The announcement comes amid a partial scarcity of fuel that has lingered for weeks. There had been concerns the government, which says it has deregulated the sector and no longer pays subsidy, would raise rates as crude oil prices have seen a rebound in the global market. The state-owned NNPC, which regulates the sector and is the sole importer of refined petrol, however, assured there was no such plan for February and March.
