Frank Onyeka completes transfer to Premier League

Newly promoted Premier League side Brentford have completed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka after he was issued a work permit.

Onyeka has signed a five-year contract, but a transfer fee was not disclosed.

He joined from Danish club FC Midtjylland, who are owned by the owner of Brentford.

There were initial fears that the defensive midfielder will not be granted a work permit as he has yet to establish himself in the Super Eagles.

He arrived UK yesterday and will undergo the compulsory quarantine before he could join his new team training.

Sign death warrants to decongest prisons, Aregbesola urges govs

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Friday, urged state governors to sign the death warrants of the 3,008 condemned criminals waiting for execution, especially those whose appeals had been exhausted and were not mounting challenges to their convictions, as part of measures to decongest prisons nationwide. Aregbesola, who spoke at the inaugurating of the Osun State Command headquarters complex of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Osogbo, stressed the need to bring to closure the cases involving the inmates. The minister enumerated three avenues to decongest prisons, saying governors could accelerate the wheel of justice, as many inmates had been in custody for a period longer than the maximum sentence their alleged offences carry, which he described as a miscarriage of justice.
