BREAKING: EFCC Chairman slumps

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa slumped at the third National Identity Day celebration at the Banquet Hall Villa.

Bawa who was delivering a goodwill message suddenly stopped, staggered back to his seat, and laid down.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, and other dignitaries held him, after some time, he was guided out of the hall.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Monday, confirmed the crash of an Alpha Jet aircraft in Zamfara. The aircraft was returning from air interdiction between the boundaries of Zamfara and Kaduna States. Varsity workers begin nationwide strike Feb 5

Non-teaching staff in universities will commence a nationwide strike from February 15, 2021 over the Federal Government’s handling of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System(IPPIS), sharing formula of the N40 billion earned academic allowances and non-payment of arrears of the new minimum wage. The workers, under the Joint Action Committee, which is made up of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) had last week embarked on a three- day protest over government’s failure to honour the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed with the unions on 20th October, 2020. The committee said other contentious issues that informed the decision to embark on a nationwide industrial action include inconsistencies in IPPIS payment and the delay in the renegotiation of the FGN/ ASUU/SSANU 2009 Agreement. Gas explosion, truck, bandits kill 24 in Delta, Ondo, Kaduna PunchJan 24, 2021

At least 24 persons were killed in a gas explosion, road crash and a bandit attack in Delta, Ondo and Kaduna states respectively. Ten persons reportedly died on Friday night in Agbor, the headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State after a gas plant went up in flames, destroying several buildings, vehicles and leaving many persons with serious injuries. Eyewitnesses told Sunday PUNCH that a gas tanker had arrived at the Osadebe Gas Plant along the expressway around 6pm. One of them, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said instead of waiting for hours to allow the vehicle and the content to cool off, they started discharging it immediately. He said, “In the process, the tanker went up in flames and over seven buildings around the plant were burnt down, more than 10 people died while many were injured. “They rushed the injured victims to the Central Hospital, Agbor, but there was nothing on the ground to attend to victims. It is a shame on the government.
