'We are the monkeys, no one respects this competition': Evra claims Mendy's Yashin Trophy snub was racial

Speaking in an Instagram video, former France and Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra said: "The goalkeeper... what about Edouard Mendy?

"But of course, African Cup, we are the monkeys, so no one respects this competition. We are the only competition where you have to leave your club

Mendy, who was born in France, represents Senegal on an international level through his Senegalese-born mother.

The goalkeeper finished second in the Yashin Trophy race behind Gianluigi Donnarumma despite winning the Champions League trophy with Chelsea last season.
